IIT-B pools in for attack victims……..Gauri Rane
Mood I’s organisers have come up with a unique way to show solidarity with the victims of the Mumbai terror attacks.
Convenors of IIT-B’s annual fest are conducting a blood donation campaign. “The purpose of this campaign is to motivate students to donate blood and be a part of the humanitarian drive. We are organising this blood donation camp as a part of Mood I’s activities,” said Mood I coordinator Neeraj Jain.
While the first phase of the blood donation drive is over, the second phase will be on till December 13. “Camps will be setup across the city at 18 colleges. In addition to that, we will have camps at malls and shopping complexes till December 13,” added Jain.
During the third phase of campaign, Mood I convenors plan to tap the large number of enthusiasts that will come to participate in the festival and urge them to donate blood for the cause. Festival organisers have brought in four mobile vans for blood donation which have been setup at strategic locations on campus.
Performances by Finnish rock band Ensiferum will be dedicated to victims of the November 26 terrorist attack, passes for which will be available from December 20. “It will be India’s first free international rock band performance,” added Neeraj.
This will be the band’s debut performance in India. “Having Ensiferum in India for the first time ever is no mean task. No entry fee will be charged for the concert,” added Siddhartha Yadav, member of Mood I’s core group. IIT-B’s Mood I is India’s most popular college festivals.
