While, Tadoba and Pench have been declared as National Parks and Tiger Reserves, Nagzira still remains unexplored and has been named as a wildlife sanctuary. This status of these parks has guaranteed them attention from the government and development of these areas. The best part is that one is not disappointed by the variety of flora and fauna that is seen in these well-kept sanctuaries.

The Pench National Park is located along the northern boundary of Nagpur District within 257 sq km. The park gets its name from the river flowing through it. It is rich in biodiversity and is home to 36 species of mammals, 164 species of birds, 50 species of fish, 10 species of amphibians, 30 species of reptiles and wide variety of insects.
Visiting Rules: Park is open to visitors from October1 to June 30. It remains closed during the rainy season. Best time to visit is February to April.

Rail: The railway station is about 70Kms away.
Road: Ramtek is 35 kms by bus and has a regular bus service to Pench National Park.
TADOBA NATIONAL PARK

Tadoba National Park lies in the
north-eastern part of Maharashtra in the district of Chandrapur. Often referred to as the Jewel of Vidarbha, Tadoba is of 625 sq km in area. The Tadoba National Park and Andhari Wildlife Sanctuary together form the Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve.
Accommodation: MTDC manages self-contained rooms.
Best time to visit: February to May. The park is closed from June to September during monsoons.

Rail: The nearest railway station is Chandrapur (45kms).
Road: The nearest main bus stand is Chandrapur and Chimur (32kms).
NAGZIRA WILDLIFE SANCTUARY
NAGZIRA WILDLIFE SANCTUARY
Nagzira Wildlife Sanctuary lies in the Gondia District of the Vidarbha Region having an area of 152 sq km. This sanctuary has 34 species of mammals, 166 species of birds, 36 species of reptiles and 4 species of amphibians.
Accommodation: Presently there are no rest houses near the sanctuary.But nearby towns such as Gondia and Bhandara, which are hardly an hour away, provide modern amenities.
Best time to visit: April to May. The sanctuary is closed from June 16 to September 30 inmonsoons.

Note: It is best to hire a car from the nearest town to go to these places. These sanctuaries provide a guide to accompany you. Best time to go here is summer.
