Dial a number, complain against driver and conductor
Not happy with the BEST bus service? You can dial a number and lodge a complaint against erring bus drivers and conductors, and, of course, about the condition of buses too. The Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) undertaking has decided to popularise the dedicated helpline number1800-227-550 among commuters.
The decision was taken by the transport body after BEST committee member Ravi Raja pointed out that a complaint box should be kept in buses so that commuters can avoid going to BEST depots to lodge complaints.
However, BEST chairman Dilip Patel said the transport body has already got a dedicted helpline number for the purpose, though it was yet to be popularised and not known to many.
We have now decided to popularise the helpline number by pasting stickers in buses. Commuters can call up, lodge complaints and give suggestions, said BEST general manager OP Gupta. But several commuters claimed that they would face problems as BEST has only one dedicated telephone line.
Meanwhile, BEST has decided to run the first Mercedes AC bus soon. To popularise the AC bus service, the company has offered to give a bus to the BEST for free for a month.
BEST officials said the bus would ply on three routes AS 440 (from Wadala to Borivali), AS 503 (Wadala to Kalamboli), AC 1 (from Cadbury Junction to Thane to Backbay depot).
