CSR activities:
Maternal & Child Healthcare Preventive and curative services are being provided to 30 villages through our ten-bedded maternal and child health (MCH) center at Bhorugram (Rajasthan). This MCH center is well equipped with X-ray and OT facilities. Antenatal, natal and post-natal services are available at this center. Camps are organized regularly for T. B. patients, cataract operations, ENT and family welfare programmes. Blood Donation Camps Blood Donation Camps are regularly organized by TCI at frequent intervals in all the nine regions. Dispensary at Port Blair and Ahmedabad . TCI is running clinics to provide charitable medical facilities to the local people.Drivers’ awareness programmes Social welfare programmes for increasing AIDS awareness , condom promotion and distribution, reducing sexually transmitted diseases are organized at regular intervals at major truck routes and Transhipments points. Women And Child DevelopmentAnganwadi – Under the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) program being implemented since 1992, 220 Anganwadi centers are functional. It delivers an integrated package of services for women and children viz. supplementary nutrition, immunization, health checkup, referral services, nutrition and health education and pre-school education for the children.In partnership with CARE- Rajasthan Integrated Nutrition And Health Program is being implemented in 24 villages of Taranagar Block by BCT.
Income Generation Programs Women have been trained in trades like dari making, carpet weaving, tailoring and knitting through various income generation programs to provide them a supplementary source of income and ensure them an effective market linkage.
Education
Schools TCI DAV Public School have been inaugurated at Govindpur Railway Station, Khunti.Shri D P Agarwal (VC & MD-TCI) has donated Rs.10000000/- (One Crore) for its construction.The school will be affiliated with C.B.S.E, New Delhi upto 10+2 and will be one of the pioneer institutions in Khunti Belt.There are 500 students studying in the school. The school has facilities like Science Laboratory, Computer Training Centre, Audio-visual aids & “DREAM” of the founders. An English medium, co-educational BRJD Public School at Bhorugram, (Rajasthan), 10+2, affiliated to CBSE, New Delhi started imparting education in 1973. It was set up with the objective of providing quality education to the rural children to enable them to compete with their urban counterparts. The school has modern facilities like well equipped science laboratories, computer center, auditorium, a rich library and a separate hostel for girls and boys. The fee is heavily subsidized by the TCI Group. Another school, Gnana Bharati English Medium School, Icchapuram is being supported by TCI Foundation by way of books, and fees for the needy students.Non-Formal Education (NFE) programThe NFE programme for 6 to14 years old girls is being implemented by the Trust with a aim to provide primary education to the girls who are deprived of formal education and also to enable them to join the formal stream of education. Presently 100 centers in the Rajgarh block and 50 centers in the Taranagar block are operating. In September 1999, a Maitri Samaroh (get together) of 3500 students, 2000 elders of nearby villages, school teachers and persons concerned with education took place where a cultural show was put up by the girls.
Infrastructure Development;In an effort to develop the infrastructure, since 1973 a metalled road from Jhumpa to Bhorugram, electrification of Bhorugram and adjoining villages, construction and opening of post office, a rural bank, a veterinary hospital and a telephone exchange were undertaken. Special tanks for rainwater harvesting have been made. Regular pipe water supply for general purposes (other than drinking) is being provided in Bhoru-gram.The TCI Group has substantially contributed towards the construction of 28 class rooms, 5 halls and other structures like verandahs, boundary walls, health sub centers in different villages of Churu district (Raj) with the active co-operation from the community. 450 low cost houses for socially and economically weaker sections of the society have also been constructed. Similarly 3000 low cost sanitation units in 70 villages and 50 sanitary blocks in the schools have been constructed.Gram Vikas SamitiBCT has been instrumental in promoting grass roots organizations like Gram Vikas Samities in 60 villages. These Samities are being empowered to enable the villages to undertake developmental projects independently.
Natural Resource Management Integrated watershed programme: This programme is also being implemented in 1000 Ha. of 2 villages of Rajgarh block. Under this program suitable soil and water conservation, rain water harvesting, afforestation are being adopted to improve land productivity. The programs are planned and implemented by the village committee and BCT act’s as a catalyst and provides technical support.To educate the farmers about the progress made in the field of agriculture and livestock management farmers are sent to various exhibitions and fairs. Improved / new varieties of seeds are also distributed. Demonstration of horticulture development through drip irrigation has also been promoted. The village youths were also sponsored for 3 months agricultural training to universities where they learn about new techniques and methods of agriculture production.To solve the endemic problem of Drinking Water TCI has constructed 39 dug wells and 37 rain water harvesting storage tanks called kunds.PlantingAfforestation work is being done to reclaim the productivity and to fulfill the fuel and fodder requirements of the community. About 3,28,600 saplings in 330 Ha. land of 15 villages has been planted. Seeds of Dhaman grass has been sown to prevent shifting sand dunes and to check surface run-off and also provides green fodder. About 1,35,000 seedlings for plantation on community lands, public places and village schools have also been distributed.
Disaster Relief Management Quake Relief Transport Corporation of India (TCI) provided free service to transport relief material for the quake affected people of Gujrat. TCI sent 18 full truck loads carrying medicines, clothes, food-grains, water pouches and other relief material to Bhuj, Bachao, Morvi and Kutch from Rajasthan, “Besides, all relief consignments for earthquake victims were transported free of cost,” Reports Indian Express The company’s 4,000-odd employees have also come forward in aid of the quake-affected people and have unanimously agreed to contribute a day’s salary to the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund.” Natural calamities During the time of scarcity and drought, flood, cyclone etc. TCI does its duty towards the society through donations and transportation of relief goods and food to the affected areas as it did in Orissa. Construction of earthquake proof houses and relief was provided at Latur (Maharashtra) after the earthquake.ScarcityDuring the time of scarcity and drought, fodder is provided at subsidized rates through depots run in the different blocks of Churu district in Rajasthan.FamineUnder famine relief, construction of Kaccha village roads were undertaken in order to provide employment to the villagers apart from strengthening the rural infrastructure.Homage to the Kargil martyrsTCI offered jobs to one dependant of every martyr during the Kargil conflict. It also helped by transporting goods apart from contributions in form of donations.
