Two PF officials held in bribe case
VIZAG/HYDERABAD: Two provident fund (PF) officials were trapped by the Central Bureau of Investigation sleuths when they allegedly demanded and accepted bribe for allotting a PF code number to a newly-launched firm in Rajahmundry.
The Visakhapatnam CBI branch on Wednesday registered a case against PF inspector S Venkateswara Rao and social security assistant P Y Sharma.
Rao was caught red-handed while accepting the bribe of Rs 13,000 from a contractor who sought a PF code number for his new firm, CBI DIG G Nageswara Rao said. Searches were conducted at his office and residential premises in Rajahmundry and Visakhapatnam.
The DIG said Sharma was not present when the bribe amount was accepted by the inspector. However, his role in demanding the tainted money is being investigate.
Meanwhile, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested three officials at the office of the mandal parishad development office (MPDO) in Vizianagaram district on the charges of taking Rs 1.05 lakh as bribe.
Vattambeti Ravinder Reddy, technical assistant, NREGS, at the Mentada MPDO along with Marothu Samba Murthy, additional programme officer, and another official were trapped by ACB officials for allegedly accepting Rs 1.05 lakh as bribe from a complainant for doing an official work.
The three officials were arrested and they would be produced before the principal special judge for ACB cases in Visakhapatnam.
