Three, including sanitary inspector, caught taking bribe
SURAT: Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials caught a sanitary inspector of Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) and two health workers while they were taking a bribe from a resident of Udhna after threatening him on Tuesday evening.
ACB sources said Indravadan Patel, sanitary inspector of Udhna zone, health worker Dinesh Kahar and another primary health worker Premchand Chauhan of Pandesara were arrested.
According to case details, Ramlal Badgujar of Kailashnagar Housing society, Udhna, has been getting his old house in the area repaired. A week ago, Patel and Kahar had visited the spot and issued Badgujar a show cause notice for the water spilt due to the repairing. When Badgujar went to Udhna SMC office, he was approached by Chauhan, who asked Badgujar to stop the repairing work and threatened to seal the property. He asked for a bribe of Rs 5,000 in order to not act on the case. Badgujar paid Rs 1,500 to Chauhan and called him to the collect remaining money from his residence on Tuesday.
In the meantime, he contacted S J Yadav of ACB and a trap was set up. All three were caught by ACB while accepting the bribe at Badgujar’s house.
