Revenue dept clerk in ACB net
The anti-corruption bureau, Pune, on Tuesday arrested a clerk working with the revenue department in Indapur for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 21,000 for releasing two trucks which were overloaded with sand.
Officials of the ACB identified the clerk as Prakash Shankar Bhondve (39) of Baramati.
A complaint in this regard was lodged with the ACB by Yogesh Nalwade (31) of Indapur. An ACB team led by assistant commissioner of police, Sanjay Naik Patil, laid a trap at the tehsildar’s office in Indapur and caught Bhondve red handed while accepting the money on Tuesday.
According to Naik Patil, complainant Nalwade has a business of supplying building materials. On August 21, Bhondve seized Nalwade’s two trucks, which were overloaded with sand. When Nalwade contacted Bhondve the next day, Bhondve told him that he would release the trucks only after paying a fine of Rs 37,000. “Nalwade then told Bhondve about how he had seized his overloaded truck on August 12, and released it after accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000,” Naik Patil said. Bhondve, then, demanded Rs 21,000 from Nalwade and told him to come to the office with the money on Tuesday.
“We laid a trap at the tehsildar’s office in Indapur and caught Bhondve red handed while accepting the money,” Naik Patil said.
Inspector B R Patil of ACB is investigating further.
