Graft case: Clerk lands in ACB net
TIMES NEWS NETWORK
Nagpur: The Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths caught an NMC clerk
redhanded while he was allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000 on Friday.
A team led by PI Milind Totre nabbed Jitendra Tomar, the clerk of NMC
Estate Department, who sought money from a local event management company
for issuing a no-objection certificate (NOC). The firm’s directors, Sandip
Kamble, Sameer Palkar and Anand Naik, had requested for a NOC to hold road
shows in the city in order to promote a newly-launched bike. However, Tomar
allegedly demanded Rs 5,000 from the directors for issuing the required
documents and a no objection certificate. “He even called the directors
during the last two days, warning them to cancel their certificate if the
money wasn’t paid,” a source said. Instead of paying the amount, one of the
directors lodged a complaint with the ACB on Friday morning.
A trap was laid and Tomar was caught receiving the bribe in the evening.
