TOI : Four BMC Employees in ACB Net : Apr 8, 2007

Four employees of BMC H-ward, allegedly demanding and accepting a
bribe of Rs 1,000 from a stall owner outside Jogger’s Park, Bandra, were
trapped by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Saturday.

All the four arrested were Class III employees and were on a collection
spree early on Saturday morning when the ACB laid a trap and caught them
red-handed. They were Deepak Shivram Kamble, Chandrakant Govind, Chandrakant
Gangaram Laad and Chandrakant Jayram Pawai.

In February, three policemen of Nirmal Nagar police station were caught
together while accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 from a shopkeeper in Bandra.
Later, three policemen of Byculla police station were caught together for
allegedly kidnapping a teacher and extorting Rs 60,000.

The fresh case came to light after herbal juice stall owner Raju Pandey
approached the ACB last week. Pandey said the accused, attached to the
nuisance detection squad of the ward, were demanding a monthly hafta of Rs
