What are Indians talking about A recent survey of people in 26 countries showed that the most talked-about topic this year among Indians was corruption.About a third of Indians reportedly talked about corruption with friends,co-workers and family.And,no prize for guessing what Indians thought was the most serious global problem corruption again.
This year has seen the exposure of sleaze at an scale previously unheard of.Topping the charts is the gigantic 2G scam with its chaotic political fallout.Then there were the Commonwealth Games scam,the UP food scam and a host of others.All these have kept Indians engaged like never before.The survey,carried out by opinion research consultancy Globescan,revealed that corruption/greed was considered the most serious problem in 21 out of 26 countries surveyed.Over 68% mention it as one of the most serious problems in the world.
In Pakistan,terrorism was the most talkedabout subject with over 54% respondents mentioning itthe highest in the world along with Turkey.Rising prices was the second most talked issue in Pakistan followed by corruption.In India,terrorism was the second most popular topic of conversation,with about a quarter of those surveyed mentioning it.This is much higher than the global average of about 14%.Globally,too,corruption was considered the most worrying problem,with 21% respondents flagging it.
Climate change was the second most talkedabout issue globally.Though it has lost some of its traction among the richer countries,its increasingly dominating thinking in developing countries.In India,52% of those surveyed mentioned it as a serious problem,up by a dramatic 14 points since last year.

London: Indian universities must have a separate faculty for thinking and it should be taught as a distinct subject,a leading world authority in developing creative thinking said on Thursday.After signing an MoU with FyneCube to foray into India,Dr Edward de Bono said: The biggest problem facing the world is poor thinking. Under the MoU,de Bono and FyneCube will design education products based on de Bono tools and techniques for Indian education.AGENCIES
