Textile museum to come up in Mumbai soon
Mumbai, Apr 23 (PTI) A textile museum depicting the history of textile industry in the city will soon come up in the metropolis.
Maharashtra government has identified four acres of land in Dadar area, which was once a textile hub before the strikes in the early 1980s spelt doom for the industry.
Textile Minister Mohammed Arif Naseem Khan told PTI that the plot situated in the Kohinoor mills has been identified and handed over the Brihanmumbai Municipal corporation (BMC).
He said the museum will be constructed by the BMC and the state government will supplement the efforts by providing additional finances, logistics and historical data.
Archaeological survey of India (ASI) will also assist in setting up of the project.
“The project is still in the planning stages and Chief Engineer (Development plan) and Director Engineering and special projects in the BMC are working on it,” he said.
