Steps for a Collection Centre
1. Send an email to info@karmayog.org with your contact details
2. If possible, include the address of the Collection Centre and convenient times. (If you do not want your address displayed on the website, you may send a minimum of your email ID, city you are located in and locality within the city.
3. These details will be circulated to the Karmayog group
4. People interested in donating books will contact you — you have to coordinate so that they can drop off books to you. (You do not have to collect the books yourself)
5. Maintain a list of books donated (include type of book, language, number of books) and send this to info@karmayog.org – this list will be circulated to the Karmayog group so that interested people can contact you and pick up books from your place. (You do not have to drop books yourself)
6. If possible, sort and remove the books that are torn or in bad condition — we would not like these to be donated. Such books may be sold as raddi.
7. Maintain a list of people and organisations who receive books from your collection centre. These can be contacted again when more books are donated.
8. Contact public libraries, reading rooms, children’s homes, old age homes, schools, colleges, etc. near your locality and inform them of the availability of books. (You can use volunteers for this)
9. If you have a space constraint, books left over after a period of one month from the date of donation may be offered to NGOs who would like to sell these books in a jumble sale / garage sale to raise funds for their work. These NGOs will collect the books from your Collection Centre.
10. We have an A4 sized poster about the “Donate Books, Receive Books” initiative that can be displayed at the Collection Centre, or at any other locations that you would like to.
