Animal care gets cutting edge with endoscopy unit
Mumbai: In a bid to make available sophisticated techniques for animalcare, the department of surgery and radiology at Bombay Veterinary College in Parel is to open an endoscopy unit on Friday.
The new unit at the 125-year-old animal hospital will concentrate on diseases affecting the respiratory and digestive systems in animals.
As in human beings, the endoscopy unit will enable diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the oesophagus, stomach and small intestine in the animals. It will also help in tackling diseases affecting the respiratory systems as professionals will be able to pinpoint the pathology of the affected system.
The staff of the department of surgery has provided honorary services for animal welfare to the Bombay Veterinary College-affiliated ‘Bai Sakharbai Dinshaw Petit Hospital for Animals’ since the last 125 years. TNN
