We, The NSS Unit of Narsee Monjee College of Commerce & Economics, is organizing a Healthy Youth For Healthy India (H.Y.H.I.) camp for ten days from 9 December, 2008 to 18 December, 2008 at Fouzy Farm, behind Shristi Palace, Ghateghar Saivan,Vajreshwari Road, Virar (East).
We conduct various other projects like Rakhi Selling,
This year along with the Medical checkup and Social Awareness we also aim to make them self sufficient by generating employment opportunities and Try to solve their electricity problems. These long term projects will make the village self reliant.

GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT THE
Narsee Monjee college N.S.S. unit is conducting the H.Y.H.I. residential camp in
DESCRIPTION ABOUT THE ADOPTED AREA.
Name of the village:
Population: 550 approx.
Number of houses: 95 approx.
Location: 12 kms away from Vasai highway.
Occupation: Farming, Brick Making& Labor work.
Language: Marathi.
Education: 66% illiteracy.
66% of population is illiterate in the village. Balwadi is underdeveloped with only 2 classes for 4 grades. There is no garbage disposal system as well as proper transportation facility in the village. The electricity problem prevails in the interior areas of the village. The village is also deprived of the proper hygienic drinking water facility. The 90% of the people are Tribes and the rest belong to OBC.
HIGHLIGHTS OF LAST YEAR CAMP
¯ KVIC PROJECT
We organized for a vocational course on candle and agarbatti making and also helped them to take their product to the market level and realize money for them.
¯ MEDICAL CAMP
We got approx 300 patients for general check-up and about 100 villagers for pathology check-up. Medicines and necessary aid was spontaneously provided to the patients.
¯ BALWADI
We distributed various stationery items like slates notebooks and other necessaries like uniforms and school bags along with water bottles.
Nutritious MID DAY MEALS were also provided on alternate days.
¯ TREE
We planted around 25 saplings in the village area including the roadside.
¯ AWARENESS LECTURES
Professionals dropped in at the site area to educate and communicate with villagers about the on going tribulations prevailing viz. health care, cleanliness and self development etc.
¯ CLOTHES DONATION
This was done on a very large scale as we gathered clothes from all possible sources and donated in an unbiased manner among the needy villagers.
¯ FOODGRAIN DONATION
We donated Cereals as well staple food like rice in order to develop healthy food habits amongst the villagers.
¯ MISCELLANEOUS PROJECTS
We also managed many more activities for the villagers to build their morale and confidence and to sow seeds for their better standard of living.
CURRENT YEARS PLAN OF ACTION
(I) IMPROVISING AND WORKING ON LINES OF LAST YEARS PROGRAMMES
¯ Providing garbage disposal facilities by placing garbage bins distributed evenly throughout the village
¯ A medical camp which will include dental, physiotherapy, thalesemia as add-ons to previous years camp
¯ Attempts to be made to enhance their trading outlook as well as individual personality.
INTRODUCTION OF NEW ACTIVITIES IN THE CURRENT YEAR
¯ Setting up a small Dispensary in the village premises with appropriate medical aid and a government doctor aiding on timely basis.
¯ As a subsidiary occupation we would like to enhance their skills in the field of POTTERY too in order to create employment opportunities in off-seasons too.
¯ The female section of the society is targeted to boost their energy in areas such as Knitting and Cloth Embroidering.
¯ To maintain and improve the fertility of the land along with the motto CLEANLINESS IS NEXT TO GODLINESS, we would create Manure Pits at the fields simultaneously educating the farmers on other hand
