Revenue official found with assets worth Rs 1cr
HYDERABAD: Cracking down on government officials, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths today conducted searches on three government employees, including one in the city, West Godavari district and Visakhapatnam and unearthed disproportionate assets worth more than Rs 2.70 crore from them. The market value of these assets would be more than Rs 15 crore, officials said.
In the first case, ACB sleuths conducted searches on the office, residence and other premises of T Gopal Reddy, assistant secretary (registration and stamps) in the Revenue Department and unearthed assets worth more than Rs one crore. Gopal Reddy was found in possession of a house at Durgabhai Deshmukh colony in the city, a flat at New Nallakunta, nine open plots at Baghamberpet, Kondapur, Karmanghat, Pocharam and Yamnampet in Ghatkesar mandal and 3.24 gunta agriculture land at Hayathnagar.
Apart from these immovable assets, he was found in possession of one kilo gold ornaments, Rs 92,000 cash, a two-wheeler and household articles worth Rs 3.35 lakh. ACB officials are verifying the bank transactions and other financial documents. Gopal Reddy would be arrested and produced before a special court for ACB cases in Hyderabad. Elsewhere, the ACB sleuths conducted searches on the town planning officer of Bheemavaram municipality in West Godavari district, T Etheeshwar, and unearthed assets worth more than Rs 1 crore. The searches were conducted on Etheeshwar’s residence at Malkajgiri in the city and also on his office at Bheemavaram.
The immovable assets include two houses (one G+1 house at Malkajgiri, one at Nizamabad).
Two flats at Malkajgiri, four open plots (one at Malkajgiri & three in Nizamabad dist).
The official value of these properties is about Rs. 76.5 lakh. Though the total value of the assets is about Rs 1.15 crore, the market value would be more than Rs 3 crore, officials said adding that further searches are in progress.
The accused is being arrested.
In another case, the ACB sleuths unearthed disproportionate assets worth over Rs 70 lakh belonging to M Appanna, executive engineer, Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority Simultaneous searches conducted over the house and office of the accused official along with that of his relatives in Visakhapatnam and Srikakulam district revealed that the 53-yearold owned a three-storeyed building, 16 plots, 16.23 acres of land at Anandapuram. The accused officer is being arrested.
