State set to launch free ambulance service…..Sanjeev Shivadekar
Mumbai: A state-owned hitech ambulance service that will provide medical assistance to patients in the first crucial hour known as the golden hour will soon hit the roads of Mumbai,Pune,Nagpur,Aurangabad and other partsof Maharashtra.
The proposal to include cities like Mumbai in the ambulance project will soon be tabled before the state cabinet for its approval, publichealth minister Suresh Shetty said.
The ambulance service would be free for all in the rural areas.However,in metro cities,the poor patients will not be charged,but thosewhocan affordtheserviceswillhaveto pay a nominal amount.Over 800 ambulances manned by paramedical staff will be on the roads in the next few months.Of these nearly 70 ambulances would be for Mumbai city.The government of India will bear the capital investment needed for the project.
