One-window healthcare project to start in April…..Bhavika Jain
Mumbai: Four years after a computerised one-window healthcare system was planned, the civic body will finally launch the pilot project in April. The municipal corporation will link all the services in major and peripheral civic hospitals with Sion hospital and Bhabha Hospital. We will be issuing the tender for the hardware for the project in the next one week, said Aseem Gupta, additional municipal commissioner.
He said they were aiming to launch the project on April 7 the World Health Day.
Information about all patients coming to the civic hospitals will be fed in the system. There will be no need to queue up endlessly for case papers. Now if a patient enters a civic hospital, he has to at least go to four windows before been treated. The endless wait will be cut short through this system, said a civic official.
Each patient will also be given a unique ID, making it possible to keep track of the treatment given to him or her. The patients entire medical record will also be available to the doctor in a jiffy.
The patients thumb impression will be stored in the data base. If a patient returns even after two years, we can find the details, said the official.
This data can also be shared among hospitals.
It will make simple for the doctor to treat a patient. Generally, a lot of patients coming to civic hospitals misplace their case papers making it difficult for the doctor to track their history, said a civic official from the health department.
