Well, the first meeting did go on well. There were around 20 people who attended the meeting. Every one was enthusiastic and determined for the cause, but there were some minor differences of opinion regarding some techicalities. I was held up in resolving those for more than a week. I also had to attend to my clinic and some other priorities, which didn’t allow me to concentrate properly on the matter.
But now, things have become more clearer. We plan to carry out the project for the entire of Santacruz East. We have created around 25 pockets and have been able to identify leaders/ coordinators for around 10 of them.
We have planned a meeting this Sunday (30th) at 11.00 am @
Nanjapa bunglow, Datta Mandir road, Next to Meet medicals, Vakola pipe line, Santacruz East.
In this meeting , we plan to create teams for each area identified, and work out on a strategy to create awareness and motivation amongst residents and shopowners.
I am forwarding the residential pockets, with a request that if anybody wants to support us in a particular area or can forward it to someone they know to be residing in that area, they may do so and contact me for the same.
We plan to launch the program on Sunday 27th dec., so that our entry into the new year is free of plastic bags.
Our efforts to have sponsors are yet on and we would greatly appreciate any support on that front.
