Plant & Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) from Mumbai receives ‘Best NGO’ Award
Plant & Animals Welfare Society – Mumbai (PAWS-Mumbai) received NAI Best NGO Award 2010 on the occasion of NAI 18th Annual Conference & Award ceremony held at ISKCON Temple in New Delhi. There were 30 different categories in which awards were given to individuals, organizations and agencies that have achieved and contributed uniquely in an overcrowded world through their works.
Some of the dignitaries present on this occasion were Special Cell ACP L.N. Rao, Member of Parliament (MP) Oscar Fernandes, Director of AAFT Sandeep Marwah, Ex-President of INS & ILNA Sunil Dang, various leaders from political parties and media personalities participated.
Doordarshan’s First Camerawoman Indu Sunil Dang bagged the ‘Best Camera Person’ Award, Hacker 5 Team got ‘Best Cyber Terror Investigation’, Amrit Pal gets ‘Best News Anchor’ Award, Afternoon’s Voice Editor Vaidehi Sachin got ‘Best Editor’ Award and Radio One’s Naved got ‘Best Radio Jockey’ Award, these are some of the popular categories.
PAWS-Mumbai is an independently registered Non-Government Organisation (NGO) founded in 2002 by likeminded youth who wanted to work in the field of animal welfare and environment protection. The organisation was founded under the leadership of Young Animal & Environment Activist Sunish Subramanian Kunju.
The youth believed that their consistent efforts at grass-root level would be able to bring about a change on the two fronts. Over the years they have raised several pertinent issues concerning the environment and animals in the city of Mumbai, they started as small first aid & rescue group now it grown into a major movement in the city.
