DNA : Special children mould elephant god in clay : Sept 12, 2007
Deepa Sarna
A group of special kids from National Society for Equal Opportunities for the Handicapped (NASEOH) at Chembur have designed Ganesh idols made of pure clay, which will be on display for sale at Kamdhenu Gift Shop within their premises for three days starting on Wedneday.
I guided the students initially but now they design the idols themselves. The students have made 35 idols, which will be displayed in the exhibition. Right from colouring to designing accessories, is done by these kids. For one idol to get ready it takes almost two hours, says Jayanthi Ravindran, an instructor at the institution.
Sudhir Kamble, one of the special students, said he just needs to visualise an image in his mind and then he can craft the image with clay.
Jairam Tanawade, who loves to paint said, I am trained in computers from NASEOH but my hobby is painting. I paint the idols made by my friends here with the help of my trainer.
