HYDERABAD: The panchayat secretary of Yanamalakuduru gram panchayat in Penamalur mandal of Krishna district was caught taking bribe by the Anti- Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials.
The panchayat secretary, Kalapala Laxmi, was caught red-handed by the ACB Officials at her office yesterday evening when she took Rs 25,000 bribe from a person to demarcate his land in Sugali Colony and to hand over the same for erection of a plant for supply of protected water to the villagers. Laxmi would be arrested and produced before a special court for ACB cases, Vijayawada, an official release said Thursday.Meanwhile, two excise constables from Visakhapatnam were dismissed from service following their conviction in a ACB trap case.The excise constables in the Assistant Commissioner’s Squad, Visakhapatnam, Ch Seetaram and P Chiranjeevi Rao were trapped in 2004 by ACB officials when they took Rs 5,000 bribe for not registering a case against a person and to return liquor bottles, identity card, liquor bill, driving license and papers of his two-wheeler which were seized from the latter on the pretext that he was carrying defence department’s liquor bottles unauthorisedly.
Meanwhile, an ACB court in Visakhapatnam convicted K Jaya Prakash Rao, the transport officer, Girijan Cooperative Corporation, Visakhapatnam and sentenced him to one year rigorous imprisonment and to pay Rs 2,000 fine in a trap case. The transport officer was trapped in 2005 when he took Rs 3,000 bribe from a person to do an official favour, the release said.
