Dear Friends,
I represent a very large organisation – the Salesians of Don Bosco. You
might have heard of some of the Don Bosco Schools in various cities of
India. But you may not be aware that we have a mighty operation in progress
for street children. Calcutta alone has 23 centres for street children,
looked after by us. We are active in similar service in over 40 cities of
India.
We also have literacy programmes going on in various parts of India, for the
most disadvantaged children and youth of the country. In Manipur, for
instance, we have about 50 centres in function right now.
We also run several ‘bridge courses’ or ‘leapfrog courses’ that taken
pre-adolescent illiterate children and though an intensive course prepare
them to join mainstream education in classes close to their age group.
We also have hundreds of village schools – some to the primary level, some
to the middle school level and some to the high school level. They are run
in extremely difficult circumstances.
We even have a few mobile libraries that serve only such programmes in
extremely rural and poor areas.
For all such programmes could benefit a lot from donations of books, DVDs,
VCDs, etc. As they are for libraries, ANY sort of books would be fine –
biographies, inspirational, stories, novels, general knowledge, books on
almost any topics except books that use very sophisticated language.
We could also use books in almost any language of India, as we are active in
practically every single state of the nation.
I am based in Delhi. We could serve as the collection point and distribute
the books wherever they are most needed. My office is situated at B-32
Dashrathpuri, Palam-Dabri Road, New Delhi 110045. We are not far from
Dwaraka housing complex and not far from Janakpuri. The closest metro
stations ar Janakpuri West and Uttam Nagar East. My phone number is
09910619556.
I am also in a position to donate some of my own personal books.
Please let me know whether we can collaborate or not.
