The shoeshine boys first started banging their boxes with theor brushes in order to attract the attention of passing commuters.
Since the brushes wouldn’t take this kind of treatment and would break, thus hurting their pockets, the shoeshine boys started using pieces of stick for the purpose.
These sticks now damaged the boxes.
Very soon, they armed themselves with empty cold drink bottles which have two advantags – one, the hollow bottles make a loud noise & two, they do not damage the boxes.
When you stand at a railway platform you are entertained to a tack-tack-tack sound going around you. Some of these ‘drummers’ really have a go at assaulting your ear-drums.
This is very irritating and must be stopped immediately. How such a sound can be termed as attractive, defies my imagination.
I, sometimes, speak to the shoeshine boys telling them about the futility of making these sounds. I am sure, I tell them, not one customer is attracted to them because of the sound they make. They don’t understand the point I try to make.
However, it seems to nobody’s job in the railways to stop this unnacceptable practice.
DISARM THE SHOESHINE BOYS NOW.
