NOISE POLLUTION â A NEW DOUBLE-EDGED WEAPON OF VIOLENCE.
-The recent Supreme Court judgment about noise pollution was received amongst controversy.
-No religion propagates celebration of any festival by creating noise.
– In short, it has become a new way of creating Violence.
-Political pressures and was forced to allow the use of loudspeakers upto the mid night instead of 10 oclock.
THE NOISY (COMPULSORY) JOURNEY!
-Ganpati Festival in Maharashta.
-Loud bursting fire crackers and the heart breaking musical instruments like Dhol, Tashsas and now the Electronic synthesizers.
-And we (70% of the majority) succumb to this political threat!
WHAT IS
-The World Health Organization (W.H.O.) in 1980, prescribed following measure in decibels, known as dB, to maintain the audio level at different places.
-Industrial Areas – 75 dB for maximum period of 8 hrs
-Residential Areas – During day -55 dB & during Night 45 dB
-House – During day -45 dB & during Night 35 dB
-According to International Labor Organization (ILO), any sound which can create partial or complete deafness should be treated Noise.
THE OBJECTIVES OF THE PROJECT :
Create Awareness that:
-It is their basic fundamental right to live in peace.
– Creating noise has nothing to do with celebration.
– Focus on the Noise- a new way violence which kills slowly and has hazardous effect on the over all health. It has become necessary that a common man must understand that his power of listening which he takes it for granted and what can happen to him if he looses the hearing power due to noise pollution.
THE PROJECT
-The Communication Support Foundation , an NGO (Registration under Public Charity Trust âApplied ) has taken up the task to fight against Noise pollution.
-The play is written by Pradeep Dixit- a well known short film maker, Script Writer and professor of Visual communication, with proven experience of last 25 years.
-The USP (Unique selling Proposition) of this project is that this will be staged by the slum dwellers of Shirole Road of Pune ,who would be trained in a theatre workshop to perform on stage.
THE PLAY AIKA HO AIKA
-The plot of the play revolves around a traffic policeman, the worst victim of the noise pollution. It may be optional to us but it is part of his Duty!.
-The play depicts how the noise pollution brings about attitudinal changes and effects behavioral patterns in an individual.
-The play will have a cast of 30 to 40 artists of all age group, who will perform various roles.
-An open air show, will go around of 45 minutes duration, and will be performed at ground.
-The objective of this concept is allow the audience to have an Interactive session after the play is over, with experts, NGOs and socially motivated ENT specialist.
THE PRESENTATION SCHEDULE
-The play script has been written and has a certificate for performance in public places from Govt. of Maharashtraâs Marathi Natya Parikshak Mandal.
-The next stage would be to record the audio track of the play.
-The entry to the play will be on donation card, as the play has huge recurring expenses of performance.
-The play which will be performed in Marathi initially. The same International track can be used for other language version of the play, since the Noise pollution is a universal phenomenon.
