1. What is the need for / value of rating NGOs? (conceptual reasons as well as from your personal experiences i.e. in case they were rated, how would it have helped you?)
– It is good to rate the NGOs as external rating can be done through more objectivity. Constructive evaluation and suggestions can help the NGO to grow in the right direction. .
2. On what different criteria should / can NGOs / nonprofits / charities/ trusts be rated?
– NGOs should be rated on the bases of their ability to fulfill their objectives, to reach out to the target audience and overall impct of their projects
3. Who should rate them? i.e. backgrounds of such organisations or individuals
– Organizations or individuals who are knowledgable in the particular field. Those who are aware of what is happening, what is the need of the day and understanding of the work done by the NGO.
4. Which NGOs in your (subjective) opinion are outstanding ones in
Mumbai?
– There are many NGOs doing commendable work. It would be
difficult for me to name them as it is not fair to make such judgements when
I may not be aware of many who are doing outstanding work.
