By- J&K Sai STAR Society
Health is wealth is written as a Slogan on the walls of most of the Rural Govt Schools, but one finds poor children in village school not only unhealthy, but some of them also suffering from Chronic diseases, without any treatment or help. Some of the minor diseases can be prevented or cured very easily at early stage. Health check up and proper consoling by parents, teachers and Medical Staff can go a long way in preventing these diseases by monitoring health of school children. However, in the rural areas illiterate Parents and Teachers are hardly of any help and medical staff is not available to treat even serious patients, so the poor students suffer and are taken to the Doctors only when they are seriously ill. Keeping about scenario in view J&K Sainiks, Agriculturists and Intellectuals Society (SAI STAR) has started a Rural Schools healthcare mission in Remote areas of Udhampur and Kathua Districts. Wherein Society Doctor along with other staff visits rural schools and carry out Health check up of the students. During this, they also treat them for minor diseases and advise suitable preventive measures. A personal health record card is also given to each student which contains his physical health data and diagnosis, if any.
