No more skywalks in Mumbai: MMRDA chief
Those who hated it, called it the yellow caterpillars and now the top bosses of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) have officially said that the authority will not construct or plan to construct any more skywalks.
Speaking at an interactive session organised by the Indian Merchants Chambers (IMC), MMRDA metropolitan commissioner Rahul Asthana made it clear that there were no more skywalks planned by the authority.
The only infrastructure project for pedestrians was the way MMRDA marketed the skywalk project, but many of the places, the walkways remained unutilised. Many citizen groupshave been criticising the project, which also failed to attract advertisers for revenue as per the original plan.
