Shanti Bhavan is an exceptional school and home for children below the poverty line.

Shanti Bhavan, is a free residential school in a very backward village Balaganapalli, Hosur Taluk, Krishnagiri District, Tamil Nadu, for children of rag pickers, housemaids, quarry labourers, garden labour etc.   Every year we select 12 girls and 12 boys  at age 4.  Our oldest children had written the 10th  –  ICSE examinations in 2008   and had all passed with first classes, 5 distinctions and school highest is 90%.  A first in India for a school meant primarily for Dalit Children. You have read the press release sent to you.  For the 2nd consecutive year our children have passed with all first classes.  We have got the affiliation from the Indian Council for School Education, New Delhi, for 11th and 12th Grade – ISC.  Our aim is to educate these children from the poorest of poor – for life.   In time, with the value based education they receive, we hope these children will be successful in obtaining good jobs in the global marketplace and in turn will use their resources for education of the poor.
