In the wake of recent terrorist attack on Mumbai, can we fix responsibilities on beurocrats through a PIL (Public Interest Litigation) for their criminal negligence?
Though no one can absolve himself and we know for sure that its’s collective responsibility of all and NOT the failure of one department or an individual that has brought us this calamity but still these beaurocrats were hired to serve very professional objectives and this surely the aforesaid security lapse has been a deliberate criminal negligence on their part.
As known to all now, in this attack around 200 people including foreign nationals died and over 350 people badly injured. It’s needless to mention here that this has brought us tremendous humiliation and shame. Just reiterating our resilience every time, our government cannot hide from its responsibilities. According to certain estimates, the country has lost over Rs. 50000 crores in financial terms. It’s obscene to loose such a huge amount on such account for a developing nation like India.
Well, One may ask, why not politicians alone be held responsible for 26/11?
Before we come to it, we have few humble submissions. Is it not precisely the direct responsibility of these beaurocrats, who are at helm of affairs to protect its citizens and provide security to its historical monuments?
Though we are not against popular public opinion but we find little sense here in punishing politicians through PIL that might take years when we have option of voting them out of power hardly in a year’s time , if we really find some politician directly responsible for the heinous attack.
Our PIL can be aimed to nail down all such beaurocrats under the purview of Indian Jurisdiction.
Is it NOT pertinent for us to come forward and rise to the occasion as citizens of this great democracy!
For this we will have to fix individual and collective responsibilities in the system and therefore we want to gather at GATEWAY of INDIA on Dec 21, 2008 (Sunday) at 3 PM.
This occasion will be used to share our ideas constructively, which will help us draft an appropriate PIL against criminal negligence of these beaurocrats.
