First of all it is the present form of 123 agreement and Hyde Act. The other thing is that India developing Thorium based fuel instead of Uranium which makes US and other nuclear club vary. The reason is that India is abundant Thorium and very cheap compared to uranium. If India succeeds in this process, it will be great disadvantage among nuclear club. Apart from this, Indian scientific institutions like BARC made many such inventions in the field of medicine, industrial and civilian use of technology, R&D and facilities which US want great access. If India go forward with this deal, we are going to face severe attrition of scientific community and other nation easily lure them by promising great opportunity in their respective countries. What India achieved in the last 50 years, will loose within hours. One of the conditions is that BARC should close down Cirus reactor. The real motive of the US is to halt the progress of India making Thorium as a fuel in nuclear reactor. The time will tell how the scientific community in India going to react on this issue. If US administration give Re.1, then they will take back Rs.100/-. That is their foreign policy. What US administrators wonder is that after blocking and disrupting India’s development in the field of nuclear energy and bad experience of Tarapur, India could able to conduct nuclear test and made further progress in other areas which Americans and other nations makes uneasy for quite some time. This is not just a deal; it is clearly a strategic move of US to contain India in the long run. In this hide and seek game, whether India still push the deal against the interest and wishes of Indian people? |
