Bank Group Work in Governance and Anticorruption
Deadline for written feedback is January 26, 2007!
The Bank Group seeks written feedback on issues related to a new approach to strengthening the Bank’s governance and anticorruption work. The approach is laid out in the paper, Strengthening Bank Group Engagement on Governance and Anticorruption, as well as in a work plan developed by Bank Management. Interested parties are invited to answer a series of questions on the website, or send comments directly to governancefeedback@worldbank.org.
As set out by the work plan, the Bank is also consulting with representatives from governments, donors, civil society, parliaments, private sector, academia and other stakeholders.
The consultations place particular focus on eliciting feedback on a set of guiding questions, listed below, related to issues raised by the Development Committeethe Bank’s policy-setting body made up of ministers representing the Bank’s 184 member countriesin a September 18 communiqu�, as well as on country-specific issues and challenges in governance and anticorruption work.
Bank Management will report back to the Board in late January 2007 on the findings from consultations held by that point. The findings will help the Bank to refine the strategy and will also feed into a draft progress report, which will be reviewed by the Board in March 2007. The Development Committee paper will be reviewed, revised as necessary, and sent to the Board for endorsement in the first quarter of 2007. The Development Committee has requested a report at its next meeting on April 15, 2007 in Washington.
