Memorandum of Understanding
- The youth of today are the leaders of tomorrow and in our efforts towards building a more equitable, just and humane future for the world, it is essential not only to build the leadership capacity and nurture the talent of the youth, but also to sensitise and build awareness amongst them about their potential role and contribution to society.
The diverse talent, skills, ideas, and energies of youth if effectively mobilised can be best utilised to serve the interests of society, while also nurturing them to become sensitive, responsible and aware citizens of the country.
- It is in this context that NGO Council, Mumbai, which acts as a representative body of the city’s Civil Society Organisations, Karmayog.org which is an online platform for civic and social issues and AIESEC, Mumbai, a subsidiary of AIESEC India, which is an international platform for young people to discover and develop their potential, have decided to enter into the following Memorandum of Understanding.
- NGO Council is represented by its Convenor, Vinay Somani, Karmayog is represented by its Trustee, Vinay Somani and AIESEC Mumbai, is represented by Smitha Menon.
- The objectives of this partnership are:
- To build public awareness on social and developmental issues, via events, meetings, seminars, lectures, etc. on identified important days (world events)
- To conduct learning programmes and activities with AIESEC and NGOs, Citizen groups, Educational institutions, etc. in identified areas of interest
- To identify NGOs and sectors in which to conduct research, disseminate information, create awareness etc.
- To build up Online Resource Sections in Karmayog for each identified sector
- To facilitate in the ongoing support activities provided to NGOs by the NGO Council and Karmayog, such as identifying and promoting the Karmayog Non Profit of the Month
- To develop a Skill Enhancement Program for college students with identified NGOs, whereby students can visit and learn and contribute something specific to the NGO within a specified time frame
- To undertake identified city-wide initiatives in collaboration with NGOs, citizen groups and colleges
- To utilise the talents and skills of interns visiting the city, for periods of 3 to 6 months, by identifying suitable NGOs and projects for them to work on, and display a brief of their experiences on AIESEC/Karmayog.com websites
- To review yearly the implementation of this MOU and make public the contents of the review
- To take any other steps so as to achieve these objectives
