As per schedule 1st meeting initiated by Rajat Gupta began on time at 11.30 am, Sunday 10th Feb 2008 at his residence. Participants of meeting gave a small introduction of themselves. Following are the excerpts of meeting.

 

  1. INTRODUCTION OF PARTICIPANTS
    1. Rajat Gupta, working a consultant in the domain of Outdoor advertising, he looks after media selling, signage’s, hoarding and consulting to malls and retail brands in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai.
    2. Parvathi Venkateshwaran works with American Consulate and is a librarian by profession. Having contacts and knowledge, she wishes to take up different social causes.
    3. Sangeeta Burkhe is an independent corporate trainer and adventure enthusiast. She has been working for the poor and needy with different organization and intends to do more with Karmayog Navi Mumbai chapter.
    4. Raja Srinivas – An employee of Eureka Forbes, he was here on behalf of his GM. A resident of Nerul, he is an aware citizen with an urge to contribute to society.
    5. Chanchal Chaudhri – A consultant to various NGO and non profit organizations, he looks after regulatory / legal cum administrative matters of these organization. Also an aware citizen he too wishes to contribute to society with a local platform of Karamayog.

 

  1. THOUGHTS  ON JOINING HANDS for KARMAYOG NAVI MUMBAI CHAPTER
    1. Rajat Gupta – Having an urge to contribute to society, he wishes to leverage his ideas and contacts for development in Navi Mumbai. He also feels an absence of platform for educated and aware citizens in Navi Mumbai.
    2. Parvathi Venkateshwarn – Being an aware citizen, she has interest in Environment Awareness, Social Up-liftment of poor and needy, to large scale development of urban greenery.
    3. Sangeeta Burkhe – As professional corporate trainer, an adventure enthusiast, she intends working with under privileged children. Development of Urban Landscape and taking up innovative projects.
    4. Raja Srinivas – With 16 years of experience with Eureka Forbes, he too feels there is a lot that can be done when like-minded people join hands for social development.
    5. Chanchal Chaudhari – With his vast experience in handling regulatory matters of NGO, non profit organizations, he is inclined towards various causes from Environment to Slums etc…
  2. After introduction and thoughts on joining hands for Navi Mumbai Karmayog Chapter, most members expressed various desires and thought on what could be done. Conversations went in all different directions from Enviroment to Social Causes.
  3. As per initial guidelines from Mr.Somani, Rajat Gupta suggested that we do a small exercise of knowing the NGO’s operating in Navi Mumbai and gauging their activity level and knowing their needs. This exercise could give us better idea of existing needs. It was agreed that the idea will be explored further in the next meeting and all details need to be gathered from Karmayog HQ.
  4. Further some ideas were exchanged between participants on Environment and Urban Greenery. And it was suggested that April 22 is World Earth Day and a mass plantation drive on corporation land be initiated. Concept discussed is “Smriti Van” Here any individual can come and sponsor a tree sapling in remembrance of his near and dear one. The concerned tree sapling will adorn a placard in his fathers name (for example) or his mother etc. Concept is that of contributing to greenery with attachment. Like the way people donate benches to sit, water coolers etc.
  5. Between the participants it was decided that next meeting will be held on 24th Feb 2008, Sunday. And to kick start the “Smriti Van” concept Mr.Rajat Gupta will initiate a dialogue with CIDCO and NMMC for land. Parvathi and Sangeeta Burkhe will look into follow up and contacts for giving it momentum. Mr. Chanchal Chaoudhri will try n see if land adjacent to their building near sanpada can be acquired and work on more details. Mr.Raja Srinivas offered to take care of any help on behalf of Eureka Forbes.
  6. The meeting ended on a pleasant note with a concrete decision to take furthers the NAVI MUMBAI CHAPTER.
