About Prerana: Since its inception in 1986, Prerana has protected victims of commercial sexual exploitation & human trafficking, assisting over 5,000 children and transferring 1,000 from the red light areas to children?s welfare institutions for long term residential care and protection. Prerana is regarded as a pioneer in tackling second generation trafficking of children and facilitating their development and integration into mainstream society. Through this process, Prerana currently assumes full responsibility of 600 children which includes providing healthcare, shelter, education,
mentoring and at times even parenting. Prerana’s existing Anti-Trafficking Centre (ATC) is a reliable resource for information, consultation, sensitization, capacity building and training. ATC?s key interventions for children include enrolment in schools, recreational activities, information building on trafficking/ HIV and resource
mobilization for education. Prerana has deep-seated links with several government departments, international/ regional organizations, and its activities have recurrently received global acknowledgement.
Job Description: Prerana is looking for an energetic & enthusiastic individual who can contribute to the dynamic and challenging activities of Prerana. The position of
Project Director – Communications and Resource Mobilization will be based in Kamathipura, South Mumbai. This is a managerial role requiring strong entrepreneurial spirit, drive and ambition. The position provides an exceptional opportunity for an individual with superior communication and interpersonal skills to undertake effective communication and fundraising activities. The director will be responsible for
supervising timely, passionate, clear and compelling communications in support of Prerana’s efforts, as well as developing materials (including funding proposals) to promote or directly solicit private support for the organization, as well as maintaining donor relationships.
Responsibilities
Project Implementation & Reporting
* Prepare and submit internal and external monthly, quarterly and yearly project reports
* Ensure timely preparation and submission of project proposals and reports to prospective and exisiting sponsors
* Strong planning, supervisory, and interpersonal skills (courtesy, tact, patience and strong team orientation)
* Proven superior writing and editing skills with an ability to synthesize large amounts of information and compose clear and persuasive prose Public Relations & Interface
* Ensure quality and relevant PR literature is available to all internal and external stakeholders
* Supervise all arrangements for external visitors by coordinating with project directors, accounts and finance departments. Personally attend all visitors to centre
* Undertake liaison and relationship building with external and internal stakeholders (state agencies/external players) through active networking
* Undertake and manage critical ongoing communication (identifying and building relationships/networking) with appropriate policy makers, opinion makers and donors
* Take responsibility for evolving and sustaining corporate funding through regular and active communication with corporate partners Quality
* Ensure minimum quality standards in all aspects of work under relevant jurisdiction are adhered to
* Identify areas/gaps that warrant an improvement in quality standards IEC
* Supervise the creation and production of promotional video and TV clips through sourced external suppliers
* Update all PR and communication materials for internal and external use Assume ownership for Prerana’s website – ensure all information, pictures, links are up to date and active
* Develop and execute plan for resource mobilization
* Ensure widespread dissemination of IEC material
Minimum qualifications, experience and skills required:
Graduate or postgraduate qualification; preferable fields of study are Journalism, Communications, Marketing or Public Relations A minimum of 10 years (following graduation) of experience gained in a professional environment and a minimum 5 years work experience in a senior marketing/communications position Fluency (oral and written) in Hindi and English; familiarity in Marathi is a plus
