BMC and NGO start citizen oriented cleanliness drive

A group of minimum of 25 people can now approach BMC to talk about their unclean area and the BMC will respond quickly by sending equipment and workers to clean up the area on any given day, except Monday.
After BMC came up with the Solid Waste (Prohibition of littering and regulation of segregation, storage, delivery and collection) Rules 2006 in collaboration with NGO Council, citizens groups, consultants and various other organisations, they have now come up with an initiative of citizens’ oriented cleanliness drive all over Mumbai.
A minimum group of 25 people need to come together and approach their local,we want the citizens to participate in the administrative process more actively. We will provide man wer and equipments.” -Seema Redkar ward office and meet the assistant or the chief engineer for the cleanliness drive of any area. Then, a detailed time-table would be prepared by assistant municipal commissioner – detailing the cleanliness drives to be undertaken in their wards.
The BMC is also planning to approach the NSS units of colleges to participate in the cleanliness drives as part of their projects from the next academic year.
The NGO council has also volunteered to help the citizens. Citizens could mail details viz their name, number, locality details, a note on how unclean the situation to karmayog@karmayog.com

However, this initiative is not just restricted to cleanliness. It is imperative u the citizens also suggest and undertake beautification process in the said ~ area, post the cleanliness drive.

, can involve planting trees, ,shrubs, whitewashing the area etc thereby, prevent the area from getting dirty urther.”
