Our grass root level experiences suggest us that, the common salt is largely used in every home. In Sangli district I have not seen the problem of goitre. Recently I came across various view points of experts discussing use of iodised salt on FAO platform.
As I did not had any information on this matter I could not participate in it. But I agree with you taking into consideration our grass root level experiences in Maharashtra state and north Karnataka that it should be people’s choice and affordability that matters.
Iodised salt is sold by Industrialists, so the money will go to them what about common people? The solution is that we should make them aware about the diet and its content.
I want to share your information with the FAO experts.
