Two govt officers arrested for unaccounted wealth
The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Pune, arrested two senior government officers for amassing disproportionate assets to the tune of Rs 3 crore. The officers include Vikram Parshuram Jadhav, executive engineer, Public Works Department (PWD) and Subhashchandra Ramkrishna Bansal, superintendent engineer, Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Company Limited (MSETCL), Pune.
The ACB officers superintendent (administration) Sanjay Naik Patil and deputy superintendent A R Kadam produced the duo before special judge J D Kulkarni on Tuesday. They were later released on bail.
The ACB sleuths had earlier arrested Jadhav, a resident of Revenue Colony, Shivaji Nagar,and senior clerk Yogesh Tarate on May 4 for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 1 lakh from civil contractor Prashant Doke (41) of Alephata in Junnar taluka. Doke had complained that Jadhav demanded money from him for clearing the bills of road construction work that he had carried out for PWD.
The ACB sleuths raided his house and recovered gold, silver ornaments and cash amounting to Rs 1.68 crore. Investigation also revealed that he owned 33 guntha land in Vadki on Saswad Rad, a bungalow in Solapur district and a shop on J M Road in his wife’s name. The ACB seized documents pertaining to his land deals. Now the ACB arrested him for allegedly amassing unaccounted wealth of Rs 2,23,28,767 between June 1986 and April 2010. Bansal was earlier arrested on January 20 this year for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 40,000 from civil contractor Sanjay Tilekar of Baramati. Tilekar had filed complaint, saying Bansal had demanded money from him for sanctioning the construction work at Jejuri central office of MSETCL.
The ACB raided his house and recovered Rs 58 lakh cash, along with 51 tolas of gold and various shares and bonds of four different companies.The ACB arrested him for possessing disproportionate assets worth Rs 51,58,735.
