2 policemen held for taking bribe
The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Saturday arrested two policemen of the Gorai police station for taking bribe from a landowner after the men stopped him from carrying out construction on his own property.
Police Naik Anna Harishchandra Thorat (48) and Nilkanth Gopal Parab (50) were caught by ACB sleuths while accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000.
The ACB sleuths nabbed the duo while accepting the money at the Gorai police station.
The police said the complainant had a small piece of land in Gorai and he wanted to carry out some construction on it.
The duo asked him to meet their demand before carrying out any work on it.
The complainant was asked to pay a bribe of Rs 1.5 lakh by the policemen.
“The duo told him that the senior inspector of the station was demanding it. The amount was negotiated to Rs 50,000,” the police said.
