Govt names new heritage committee
Mumbai: Industrialist Cyrus Guzder, architects Vikas Dilawari and Jayant Vaidya, structural engineers S G Joglekar and environmentalist S K Gupta are the new faces on the newly-constituted heritage committee.
The government announced the appointment of the new Mumbai Heritage Conservation Committee under the chairmanship of former chief secretary Dinesh Afzulpurkar. The panel will serve for a period of three years. The previous committees tenure expired on July 30.
Apart from the nine members nominated by the state, Afzulpurkar will be allowed to co-opt five others. Structural engineer Shailesh Mahimtura had served on the previous panel as well. The state officials on the list include the director of the Prince of Wales Museum, chief architect of the PVC and a civic officer.
The state resolution mentions that the vice- chairman and CEO of BHADB and Mhada will be associated with the panel when the proposals for cessed buildings are to be scrutinised.
