Mumbai: BEST committee members on Thursday raised their voice against errant bus drivers jumping signals,speeding,lane-cutting and causing fatal accidents in the city.
Why are we unable to bring down the number of fatalities At least five people are killed in road accidents involving BEST buses every month, committee member Ravi Raja said,referring to a 22-year-old being killed in a mishap in Mumbai earlier this week.
BEST general manager Om Prakash Gupta said he has recruited traffic superintendents and inspectors who will check the movement of the buses.If they come across reckless drivers,we will take action, he said.He added that the transport body has launched a helpline (1800-227550 ) for citizens to lodge complaints against errant drivers.
