Boeing Grants for year 2006-07
The Boeing Company’s global charitable investment goal is to improve quality
of life in communities where employees live and work, in keeping with the
company’s core value of Good Corporate Citizenship. The global charity
strategy launched in 2003 and is being implemented in phases that support
the company’s overall global business strategy, with 14 countries and five
regions participating to date.
They are currently supporting specific projects in two Non-U.S. Focus Areas:
health and human services and primary and secondary public education.
Exclusions
They do not support the following:
An individual person or families.
Adoption services.
Political candidates or organizations. If you are seeking this type of
support, please contact your local Boeing Government Relations office.
Religious activities, in whole or in part, for the purpose of furthering
religious doctrine. Faith-based organizations must provide services to all
clients regardless of denomination.
Memorials and endowments.
Travel expenses.
Nonprofit- and school-sponsored walk-a-thons, athletic events and athletic
group sponsorships other than Special Olympics.
Door prizes or raffles.
U.S. hospitals and medical research.
School-affiliated orchestras, bands, choirs, trips, athletic teams, drama
groups, yearbooks and class parties.
General operating expenses for programs within the United States.
Organizations that do not follow our application procedures.
Follow-on applications from past grantees that have not met our reporting
requirements or satisfactorily completed the terms of past grants.
Fundraising events, annual funds, galas and other special-event fundraising
activities.
Advertising, T-shirts, giveaways and promotional items.
Documentary films, books, etc.
Debt reduction.
Dissertations and student research projects.
Loans, scholarships, fellowships and grants to individuals.
For-profit businesses.
Gifts, honoraria, gratuities.
Capital improvements to rental properties.
To apply for support:
Only nonprofit, nongovernmental charitable organizations and educational
institutions are eligible for Boeing grants. Your organization must include
a copy of the government charity license, registration or other official
evidence of tax-exempt charitable status and include the name of the issuing
government body, registrar or bureau. Other documentation also may be
required, such as a constitution or governing documents.
To be considered for support, your organization will need to submit a
request using the online application form (see below). They will not accept
any application that is not submitted through their online system.
Review information about their two Non-U.S. Focus Areas and the list of
exclusions above to see if the type of project you are proposing fits within
their broader global charitable strategy.
Click on Non-U.S. Community Relations Contacts and contact the one nearest
you to determine whether your project is within their geographic scope and
meets local strategies for charitable support.
They suggest that you preview the grant application to see what information
is needed so that you gather information and compose long text answers
offline, which can then be pasted into the online application.
They do not accept preview applications. You will need Microsoft Word ’97
(or a higher version) to view the file.
The deadline for submitting grant applications for the current year is
September 30.
Applications for the following calendar year can be submitted beginning in
January.

Health and Human Services
Eligible requests include:
Seed money (one-time grants) for new programs that address community needs
and priorities.
One-time grants to buy equipment, improve facilities, or enable special
projects.
General operating expenses to build NGO capacity (outside the United States
only)
Examples of eligible social services programs include:
Child welfare and development, foster care, infant care centers, child
services.
Youth services, school drop-out protection, job programs for youth,
mentoring programs.
Family services such as parent education, family violence shelters and
services.
Services for the disabled, including homes, training and specialized
services.
Programs for the elderly.
Self-help and other personal social services.
Disaster preparedness.
Examples of eligible health services programs include:
Not-for-profit hospitals, nursing homes, community health centers, mental
health programs, transition homes, and crisis intervention.
Rehabilitation services.
Public health and wellness education.
Emergency medical services.
Education
Primary and Secondary Schools
Our support for education is concentrated on public schools and districts
near Boeing sites at the elementary, primary and secondary levels, including
pre-school organizations other than day care.
