Increasing hardship of citizens of Maharashtra
While the authorities continue to spend public money on increasing
basic civic amenities in Mumbai, they are creating serious problems
and bottlenecks in new and developing human settlements coming up
around Mumbai for improving the efficiency of Mumbai. Poor waste
disposal, stinking open gutters,transport inadequacies,electricity
shedding and outages brought about by the same government, are
increasing the hardship of residents in these new settlements as
well as other regions of Maharashtra. While Mumbai will have
uninterrupted supplies of amenities, citizens in other parts of
Maharashtra will continue to suffer beyond imagination.
Today’s announcement that further cuts in electricity supply will be
brought about throughout Maharashtra barring Brihan Mumbai, where
agencies other than Maha Vitaran supply electricity would result in widening
the gap in basic amenities.
With a view to mobilise citizen response, a meeting of concerned
citizens is being held at 102, MAUSAM, Plot No.285, Sector-28,(near tilak college,)
Vashi, Navi Mumbai-400705.
at 7.30 pm on Wednesday,21st February 2007.
Hardship of Maharashtra galore. We propose at this time to start with
most serious issue, one that of power shedding adversely affecting
the life of residents of Maharashtra in this meeting. We can take up
other issues as well in time to come.
All concerned citizens are cordially invited along with their
friends. Suggestions are most welcome.
