RS 4 CR FOR KIDS TO PLAY
Residents raise Rs 4 crore for an exclusive park for children located behind the American consulate on Bhulabhai Desai Road …..GEETA DESAI
While the rest of the city is complaining that children have no place to play, residents of Bhulabhai Desai Road have raised over Rs four crore for a new park exclusively for children, including physically handicapped ones.
Located behind the American consulate, it will have among other things a nature trail, separate zones for toddlers, children in the 5-10 yr age group and those 10 years and above; a gymnasium, an amphitheatre, telescopes and a sea-facing deck.
It has been designed to stimulate the minds of children who can look forward to walls to display their painting and pictures, write slogans and quotes. Some space has been earmarked for organising various competitions. Work is expected to begin this Saturday and the park will be ready by the end of this year. When completed, it is expected to set the benchmark for parks in the city.
