Slum girl in Chennai needs Education Help
I am writing now because I am trying to help a friend back in India. As part of the series I did while there in 2005, I wrote about this 16-year-old girl, Subashini Menon, who lives in a slum in Chennai. Her father, a bus driver, died in an accident on the job when she was just a little child, and her mother works long hours at a factory to feed a family of four. Despite her circumstances, Subashini is extremely bright and dreams of going to engineering college. She recently took the board exams. Since she is from a backward caste, and a low-income family, there must some scholarships she can apply for.
I’d really appreciate any help.
