Beyond Business
India is a land of contrasts. Industrialisation is growing on one hand and unemployment on the other. The Government cannot be expected to solve problems of such dimensions overnight. A great deal can be done by the industrialists themselves. With so many industries coming up in rural areas, this is a great opportunity which should not be missed by the industrialists and their family members to play an important and constructive role.
We, at FACOR, believe that we have to do this, not because it is expected of us but because we believe in it. We believe that we have a responsibility towards our community and we shall endeavour to shoulder that responsibility. Our future plans cover a wide gamut of welfare activities, and nothing will give us greater happiness than seeing these dreams become a reality.
Drishti
- Vision is the most precious gift that a person possesses, but sadly, India has the maximum blind population.
- Working towards upliftment of the visually impaired, the Group founded Drushti – A School for Visually Impaired in 1986. For this project, a research was done with co-operation of OEU Lions Eye Hospital, Shreeramnagar in Andhra Pradesh.
- The school employee trained teachers, who have sound knowledge of Braille and know modern methods of teaching visually impaired. The services rendered are free of cost which included giving uniforms, providing transport, basic stationery, besides arranging for decent meals.
- Furthermore, to boost the morale of the students; various sports and cultural competitions are organised where students are encouraged to participate in these events. Due to the sincere efforts of the training staff and the determination of the students, the school won the Rolling Shield at district-level Disabled Day Sports Meet in its very year of inception.
Bal-Vihar
- Children around the world are considered as the wealth of a nation and hope for the future. With this thought, the Group started Bal Vihar, in 1976, with an aim to provide a home to the orphans and work towards the betterment of their future.
- Bal Vihar has provided shelter, love and education to the many children who proudly call Vihar their home. The inmates are given vocational training on how to make scribbling pads, chalk crayons, candles and hand-woven nawars. This has enabled the children to grow and become self reliant
Nari Niketan
- In its efforts to help women rise from social hardships and inequality, the Group established Nari Niketan – A Home for Rehabilitation of Helpless Women.
- Much more than a shelter, Nari Niketan has come as a relief to the women, who had to face various hardships due to their poor family background, and also due to their lack of formal education. Many of these women were forced to adopt immoral professions to be self reliant. They had no guidance and were shunned by society.
- The Nari Niketan apart from fulfilling the basic necessities offered the much needed comfort and security to these women by providing them with a training platform for the vocations of their choice and aptitude. As a result, today many women have regained their self confidence; have a steady income and employment, besides living a much better and dignified life.
