Top khadi Board official held for accepting bribe | ||
Vittal Sawant Deputy CEO of Maharashtra Rajya Khadi Gramodyog Mandal (MRKGM) and a district village industries officer of Ahmednagar, was arrested by Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs50,000 for granting subsidy to a small scale industrialist.
He was arrested after his subordinate from Ahmednagar, Narayan Gaikwad was caught while accepting Rs15,000 as second installment from concrete blocks manufacturer Rahul Ghangale in Pune, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ACB) Vilas Tupe informed. MRKGM, a government body, gives subsidy of 35 percent to encourage small scale industries and entrepreneurship. Ghangale owns a factory in Western Maharashtra’s Ahmednagar district and had received approval for a loan of Rs12 lakh for his industrial unit from State Bank of India. “They were demanding the bribe for disbursing the subsidy amount of Rs3.5 lakh. Gaikwad had already accepted Rs35,000 and today he was receiving the second installment from Ghangale,” Tupe said. |
