CSR activities:

Education , Community, Environment

1. Your company continues to believe that it has social obligations which it must fulfil in order to remain a responsible corporate citizen of the country. It also believes that the ethical conduct of business is a part of corporate ethos which helps to fulfil company�s long term vision and its engagement with stakeholders at large
2. As in the earlier year the Hosur plant has continued its Community initiatives in the Corporate Social Responsibility arena. The five core areas of healthcare, education, environment, women empowerment, relief activities have been the cornerstone of engagement with the community in and around the plant.
3.  Towards this end health check up at school at Sevanganapalli Panchyat, pulse polio camps , a Dental Health check up at Bagalur, Primary Health centre and Speciality Health centre was organized during the year.
4. An environmental awareness camp, distribution of free fruit saplings at Kothapallim, planting of saplings by employees within the factory and by the local community were encouraged as a part of the project to green the area.
5. School fees were paid for handicapped children who were also provided with books. Uniform and utensils were provided to Bal Anganwadi, to promote nutritious mid day meals.
6. Civil work was carried out to improve and maintain roads in the vicinity of the factory and at the local schools as well as the community reading room. A pump for drawing drinking water was provided to Chicurakanapalli
7. At Haldia, beautification of the government primary school ground and Mini Park was undertaken. Repair and refurbishing of school building as well as providing school furniture were also completed.
8. A bore well was dug for supply of drinking water.
9. In an innovative programme sewing machines were distributed.
10. Exide�s belief that environment is a thrust area for your company was given a great fillip in 2007 with the company being awarded the TERI corporate environmental award citing your companies leadership efforts towards environment conservation.
