November 11: Mumbai: Talk on Spreading Adult Literacy
We cordially invite you to our forthcoming event titled “Enriching Lives : Spreading Adult Literacy” by Dr. F.C.Kohli on Tuesday, Nov 11, 2008 at 3.30 p.m. in the Walchand Hirachand Hall, 4th floor, IMC Building, Churchgate, Mumbai.
Dr. F.C. Kohli, a recipient of the Padma Bhushan in 2002, is acknowledged as the ‘Father of the Indian Software Industry’. It is he who led the Tata Consultancy Service (TCS) in pioneering India’s Information Technology (IT) revolution. For a number of years he has been a tireless advocate of bringing the benefits of IT to India’s rural masses through a computer based Adult Literacy programme.
This Adult Literacy program can make a person functionally literate in 40 hours; literate enough to be able to read the newspaper in his or her own language, and literate enough for his/her life to be dramatically enriched. The program employs a cognitive approach using animated graphics and flash cards. Dr. Kohli is confident that this program can make India almost totally literate within three years.
In his presentation Dr. Kohli will demonstrate this path breaking, and unique program, and will answer our questions.
We would be very pleased if you can send the above invitation details to your members who can attend this session.
Warm regards,
Surbhi Tanna
