March 15 – 22: Bangalore: Workshop on self-discovery through drama
Arka Mukhopadhyay, artistic director of Logos Theatre, will conduct ‘Selves,
Masks, Performance’ – an intensive short term workshop that helps
participants discover their inner selves and creative potentials through
dramatic play. The workshop will focus on connecting to the self through
breathing and voice production techniques, (through chants, sounds, etc.),
basic physical awareness, working with impulse, exploring and expressing
emotions physically and through rhythm, music and breath (exploring the
rasaas), movement, rhythm and text, partner work, working in a group which
functions as a single organism, spatial awareness, exploring the senses, and
more. The work will be participant led, and will thus be about helping every
individual connect with his or her creative centre. It will be based on the
participants’ own stories as well as Shakespeare’
upon the role of theatre in conflict mediation. In the process, the
participants will be brought in touch with their creative potential and will
discover communicative, expressive and leadership skills.
