ENT medical officer of GMCH in ACB net
A medical officer with the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) here was today nabbed by the officials of Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) while accepting a bribe of Rs 80,000 for issuing a certificate. According to ACB sources, Dr Dynoba Somvanshi, Head of Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) department at the GMCH, had demanded Rs one lakh for issuing a handicap certificate to one Sanjay Tambe, who was deaf by an ear. But he later settled for Rs 80,000. Following which, Mr Tambe informed the ACB, whose officials laid a trap outside Dr Somvanshi’s residence and caught him red-hand while accepting the bribe money of Rs 80,000.
Police later raided his residence and recovered cash worth Rs 10.5 lakh. They also seized documents of disproportionate assets to his known sources of income, they added.
